What Is BodyTite?
Radiofrequency (RF) energy creates heat, and it can be harnessed to provide skin and fat enhancements. BodyTite uses the thermal benefits of RF energy to help destroy fat cells and stimulate collagen production to reduce fat and tighten targeted areas. BodyTite can be used as a stand-alone, non-invasive body contouring treatment, or it can be combined with liposuction.
When BodyTite is combined with liposuction, it is called radiofrequency-assisted liposuction (RFAL). Dr. Daniel Del Vecchio at Back Bay Plastic Surgery uses RFAL for patients that want to remove excess fat and tighten the skin for a firmer, slimmer appearance. This is a great combination for patients that are experiencing skin laxity due to aging, helping tighten the skin once the fat is removed, improving the overall appearance of the treated area.
Body Contouring Treatments
BodyTite treatments used without liposuction do not require anesthesia or surgery. The treatments take about an hour, and it is a non-invasive procedure. Results occur over several months to a year after the procedure.
RFAL with BodyTite does use anesthesia, either local or general, depending on the patient and areas treated. However, it is minimally-invasive, and patients can go home the same day. Recovery from RFAL usually requires about a week with some swelling and bruising. Patients will need to wear compression garments to help achieve the best results after the procedure.
